Yoga for the Backcountry: Reset & Rebalance
This is an event series

This second workshop in our Backcountry Yoga series shifts into the slow, grounding world of Yin, blended with functional movement and mobility work tailored for life in the mountains. It’s designed for skiers and riders, sledders, mountaineers, climbers, and anyone who spends long days moving through winter terrain. Think of it as a deep reset and rebalance for the tissues and movement patterns that work hardest outside.
We’ll settle into longer‑held, floor‑based postures that target the hips, low back, quads, spine, and full posterior chain, all the places that tighten after climbing, sidehilling, breaking trail, or bracing through variable snow. Between Yin holds, we’ll layer in gentle functional mobility drills to support joint health, movement efficiency, and the durability you need for long days out.

Expect a quiet, meditative pace that gives your body time to unwind and your mind space to settle. Throughout the class, we’ll explore how Yin and functional mobility support backcountry travel by:

Improving range of motion for kick turns, transitions, and sled body‑positioning;

Supporting joint stability and movement patterns used in climbing, skinning, and riding;

Reducing tension that contributes to fatigue, overuse, and decision fog; and

Cultivating the calm, steady awareness that underpins good mountain judgment.

No previous yoga experience is needed. Come exactly as you are, tired legs, stiff hips, achy back and all. This is a chance to soften, breathe, restore mobility, and reconnect with the body that carries you through the rugged northern mountains.
